Inspirational speaker shortlisted for prestigious Award
Frederika Roberts, inspirational speaker and business woman, has been shortlisted in the Trainer/Speaker category of the prestigious annual ‘Women Inspiring Women’ Awards held in Birmingham and sponsored by ‘Damsels in Success’.
The annual Women Inspiring Women Awards, now in its 4th year, is a glamorous black tie event where people from all over the UK come together to celebrate and recognise the achievements of
women who are fabulous role models for other women.
“Frederika Roberts is not only the President of the Professional Speaking Association (PSA) UK and Ireland Yorkshire Branch – she was one of our most motivational and inspirational speakers we had this year at PSA Ireland,” wrote Lottie Hearn of Press Play Presentations and Vice-President of PSA Ireland about Frederika in her nomination entry for this Award. “Her talks as The Happiness Speaker, her willingness to share her inspirational, emotional, heart-string-pulling story and the joy which she has created from adversity and now shares with the world, to help us discover, create and build on our own happiness, even in the down times, are an absolute pleasure to observe, be invited in to, to share and be motivated by.”
Both of Frederika’s daughters were born with severe, complex and life-threatening heart conditions. Between them, they have had two cardiac arrests, three open heart surgeries and numerous other hospital stays, both planned and unplanned. Rather than letting these events bring her down or hold her back, Frederika has turned Happiness into a career, in order to inspire others to overcome even the hardest adversity.
The Awards ceremony is sponsored by Damsels in Success. Lucie Bradbury, the creator and CEO of Damsels in Success said “This is an incredibly special event where we get to recognise amazing women who are doing amazing things in the world. We don’t celebrate our achievements enough and it’s wonderful to bring women together to do just that!”
This year’s categories are Coach/Mentor, Business Growth, Trainer/Speaker, Overcoming Adversity, Women’s Role Model / Advocate, Shining Online, Woman to Watch / Rising Star, Author / Blogger, Woman in the Community, The Knight in Shining Armour Award. The nominees went through an initial shortlisting process, followed by online voting, which concluded on 5th June, and will be reviewed by a final judging panel this week before the winners are announced at the glitzy event in Birmingham on 13th June.

Born in Italy, of dual Italian and German nationalities, Frederika moved to Luxembourg with her parents when she was two years old. She then moved to the UK in 1990 to study at the University of Bradford, where she also met her husband.
After obtaining her Business and Management degree, Frederika undertook post-graduate studies in education and became a qualified teacher. Over the years, she has worked in education, recruitment and marketing and has set up and run her own businesses.
Frederika’s clients to date have included the BBC, Greater Manchester Police, schools and charities. She is President of the Yorkshire Region of the Professional Speaking Association of the UK and Ireland (PSA).
She is also one of the three founding members of the ground-breaking RWS (Resilience | Wellbeing | Success) programme to be piloted in schools across the UK from September 2015.
Frederika regularly speaks to the press and media, including BBC radio, about her expert subject and other topics. She is available to speak on:
