There are many ways to boost your happiness
This blog post is dedicated to one:
Doing things you Enjoy
(#LittleHappinessIngredients)
It may seem really obvious, but sometimes we forget: Doing things you enjoy helps boost your happiness!
Simple, really, isn’t it?
But when we get busy, over-worked, stressed, tired, or are feeling low, we tend to forget this simple remedy. We tell ourselves we don’t have time to do things we enjoy, that we should be doing something productive.
I often wonder why we understand it is important to work on our careers, businesses, projects, diets and relationships, but not our emotional well-being and resilience.
Even the UK’s National Health Service (NHS) recommends doing things you enjoy as a stress-buster!
Some of the #LittleHappinessIngredients in life don’t have to take much time at all
It could be 18 minutes spent watching an uplifting TED video, or indulging in a hot bath, or five minutes spent watching a funny YouTube video or doing laughter yoga exercises, or even a one-minute meditation.
One of my biggest #LittleHappinessIngredients is cooking: If I feel a bit low on energy, struggle with a creative process or need a mood lift, I get into the kitchen. I also know I enjoy a long soak in a hot bath, watching my favourite TV shows with my family, spending time with friends, reading books and many more.
What are YOUR #LittleHappinessIngredients?
Make a list of them. Identify what they are so that when you need them the most, you don’t have to think about what to do. You can just go to your list.
